Spotted a couple of the Garlic bulbs had formed flower heads and started to bolt. Rather than leave them; have harvested to rather pungent bulbs. Don’t they have split into individual cloves though.

Were these autumn planted and if so, when do you usually harvest garlic? I’m currently working to ‘plant shortest day, harvest longest’…. Though I planted mine in November!
They were, yes. These I think are elephant garlic though, rather then the conventional ones. I harvested these as they had bolted and were sending up buds. I usually harvest when the foliage has gone all raffia like, and the stem have keeled over. I expect the rest to to be harvested in about 6-8 weeks.
If they’re still just one bulb you can use them as “wet” garlic.
Was one bulb. Think it was the elephant garlic; its related to the leek. Finely chopped and stashed into the fridge for ma to use. Going into Bollywood baked beans now though for my breakfast
